Residents in Wesley Chapel will have a new place to buy banh mi sandwiches starting in November. The new shop, Tiên’s Sandwich, is opening in the Wiregrass Ranch area. Prices will range from $8.95 for a classic sandwich to $10.95 for a premium version.

The menu features Vietnamese-French submarine-style sandwiches. The shop will use ingredients imported directly from Vietnam. Tea for the boba lounge will arrive from Taiwan. Owner Tommy Nguyen said the baguettes are baked in-house using a proprietary flour mixture. He explained that the blend is designed to achieve a specific crunch and airy fluffiness.

Nguyen and his wife, business partner Trang Le, traveled to Vietnam this year to study bread-making techniques. They tested different flour and protein blends to ensure the dough was not too doughy. Nguyen noted that different regions of Vietnam process these ingredients differently. He said finding the right mix is essential for the texture.

The restaurant will seat about 40 customers. While banh mi is the main focus, the menu also includes beef pho, vermicelli bowls, and spring rolls. A boba tea lounge will be part of the layout. The business is named after the couple’s daughter.

The couple lives in the neighborhood and said residents have asked for another Vietnamese option. Nguyen noted that many new openings in the area are expensive chains. He said community members have complained that family-owned restaurants are closing. He added that they want to customize the menu to fit local preferences.

Le’s family has experience in the industry. Under the guidance of her chef father, the family has consulted for Vietnamese restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Tampa Bay. They previously owned and operated Pho Nhu Trang. That location on West Waters Avenue in Egypt Lake-Leto is now Viet Kitchen.

The shop is located at 2557 Mansfield Blvd. in Wesley Chapel. The website is tienssandwich.com. The owners plan to add regional specialties later. They also intend to open a full-service restaurant in the future.
