Almost everything at The Pretzel Shop costs less than five dollars. The menu at 2316 E. Carson St. in the Southside neighborhood lists solid filling food rather than just single pretzels. A single pretzel with dipping sauces costs 80 cents.

The shop bakes pretzels daily in a brick oven built in 1872. The building retains that original structure. The menu includes breakfast and deli sandwiches served on fresh pretzels. Sandwich rolls are also available. Daily specials rotate through the offerings.

The Housemade Chicken Salad on a Pretzel is a popular choice. It comes with a peanut butter cookie and Schneider’s Peach Iced Tea. The Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel is another standard item. All items are prepared in the same facility.

Customers order at the counter for takeout. The shop accepts cash only. An ATM is located on the premises. A line usually forms, but it moves quickly. Tables sit on the sidewalk outside during warmer months.

The Pretzel Shop is open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Saturday hours run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The business is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The location serves as a low-cost option in the Pittsburgh area. The menu focuses on high volume and low prices. The 1872 oven remains the central equipment for production.
