Brazil's presidential race ended with Flavio Bolsonaro conceding defeat, yet he has not accepted the outcome. Speaking from the United States on Wednesday, the senator announced he considers himself the country's legitimate head of state. This declaration marks his first public address since crossing the border.

The political tension escalated quickly after Sunday's vote. Bolsonaro stated he watched the results unfold on television and described the process as manipulated. He claimed to have anticipated the post-election consequences, noting he knew exactly where the situation was headed. His departure followed what he termed a politically motivated witch hunt designed to keep him in custody.

The senator brought his family to the United States to avoid what he called the politicization of Brazil's justice system. He rejected the narrative that he fled the country, insisting he left for Brazil's sake. According to Bolsonaro, he departed a state of exception so he could serve as the leader his people deserve. He expressed gratitude to U.S. President Trump and the American people for their welcome.

Bolsonaro issued a direct appeal to foreign governments and institutions. He urged the international community not to normalize the current situation in Brazil. His comments suggest a strategy to maintain political influence from abroad, though he did not specify the mechanics of leading the opposition from outside the country.

The claim of electoral fraud remains a central point of contention. Bolsonaro stated he watched in horror as he believed the vote was manipulated. While the report presents this as his allegation, no independent evidence of the manipulation has been detailed in his initial remarks. He now plans to coordinate his political efforts from his new base in the United States.
