430,663 people visited Caleta de Fuste in 2024, making it the least crowded destination among 15 major Canary Islands resorts. That figure is roughly one-fifth of the arrivals at the most popular locations in the comparison.
The resort sits on the east coast of Fuerteventura. It is a purpose-built area designed for families, featuring low-rise buildings and a sheltered bay. The beach has golden sand and calm waters, with gentle waves that make it suitable for children. Sun loungers and parasols line the shore.
Which? readers ranked Caleta de Fuste as the least visited spot in their assessment. The resort attracts far fewer tourists than famous areas like Playa del Inglés and Playa de las Américas, which are known for large hotels and lively nightlife. Instead, Caleta de Fuste offers a quieter environment.
The location is convenient for visitors. It is about a ten-minute drive from the capital, Puerto del Rosario. It sits roughly midway between the northern towns of Corralejo and El Cotillo and the southern resorts of Costa Calma and Jandía. Local attractions include shopping centres, golf courses, an 18th-century castle near the marina, and a salt museum.
Weather in the region remains mild during the winter months. In December, sunrise occurs around 7:30 am and sunset around 6:00 pm. Temperatures in Fuerteventura typically reach the low twenties during this period. A hotel guide describes the resort as the most convenient option for first-time visitors and families who want to stay close to the airport.
Jet2 operates direct flights from Bristol Airport to Fuerteventura year-round. Tickets start at £31. From the airport, the resort is just a short drive away. While some critics note the resort feels manufactured, similar to other large developments, it remains a popular choice for those seeking a smaller holiday base.
The area offers various water sports, including snorkelling, diving, and windsurfing. The bay contains fine, light-coloured sand and small pebbles at the water level. World Travel Guide notes that the low-rise design provides a home-from-home feel for northern European visitors.
